AUGUST 5-14 During these days, our whole campus is in Professional Development/In-service training throughout the day and away from our desks. We are checking email and voicemail between sessions and will get back with you as quickly as possible as we prep for the upcoming school year. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

My name is Marsha Mudge and I am the school nurse for ALL the students at Dobie Junior High School. I am so excited about this school year and the chance to meet all of you and your amazing kiddos! I have been a nurse for 20 years. I have done ER, ICU, labor and delivery, and school nursing. These kiddos are my passion. They give me life and fight that I need every day!! 🙂 If you need me, right now the best way to get a hold of me is email me. My email is mmudge@scucisd.org. PLEASE READ!! Important Nursing notes for 2024-2025 School Year Your child cannot start school unless they are cleared with immunizations. Your child must have a record of the Tdap and meningococcal vaccine on file or I must have a current original notarized conscience objection from the state. Please email me any updated immunizations to mmudge@scucisd.org. I have been sending out emails since January saying if you are not up to date. We are doing a FREE shot clinic for tdap and meningococcal through the school-based health clinic on Dobie campus on 8/1/2024 from 0845am-2:00pm. If that time doesn't work for you, you can call them at 210-658-4875 to make an appointment. A parent needs to be present to administer vaccines. Please email me at mmudge@scucisd.org and I can send the documents that need to be filled out and you will also need TWO copies of their current shot record. Students ARE NOT allowed to bring or carry any medication at school. However, inhalers and EpiPens may be self-carried, but the student must have an updated asthma action plan or allergy action plan and the doctor must specify that the student may self-carry. I am NOT able to administer medications without a MD order. You are required to provide all medications that the doctor orders. You can obtain the forms that need to be filled out by the doctor at https://www.scucisd.org/o/scuc-isd/page/health-services under the "Medications and Forms" tab. You may start bringing the medication and MD orders on 8/1. I will not accept any medication without MD orders signed and complete. All controlled medication (for example, most ADHD medications) must be brought in and counted in by the parent each time. I will notify you 7-10days If you are having trouble finding a form you may email me at mmudge@scucisd.org and I can provide you with the forms you need. Please make sure your child brings a change of clothes (pants, shirts, underwear) in their bag. I do not have changes of clothes if your child needs to change clothes, so we will have to call you and have you bring them some. 🙂 I will start the mandatory screenings for student that are required by the state of Texas. I am in charge of screening almost 1000 students, so I screen them daily for months. I start screenings as soon as possible so I can get referrals out quickly. All 7th graders and all new 8th graders to the district will be screening for vision, hearing, and acanthosis nigricans. 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys will be screened for scoliosis. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to email me at mmudge@scucisd.org I am the only nurse on campus for 1200-1300 students. I love these kids! I promise to go out of my way to help them and you in any way I can. I do try and keep kids in school though. If I feel like they are sick and need to go home, I promise I will call you. Please encourage your student to come see me if they are not feeling well. When your kiddos are here, I treat them like they are my own! These kiddos are great, and they are the reason I love my job!
