Samuel Clemens Track & Field competed at Area competition on April 9th at New Braunfels Canyon High School. With several Buffs competing for both boys and girls teams in a competitive area, we are proud of what they accomplished at this meet, as well as their academic commitments.

Results for boys & girls are as follows, with Top 4 in each event advancing to Regional competition next week.

Boys

  • High Jump: Gabriel Fuller, 5th place; Christian Dupree, 1st place for jumping & clearing 6’10”. Christian not only broke the Clemens school record for high jump of 6'9" set in 1985 by A. Orlowski but is also now ranked #3 in the high jump in the whole of the United States!

  • Long Jump: Joshua Jackson, 5th place

  • Pole Vault: Luke Nichols, 1st place, again breaking his own school record with a height of 15'9"

  • Shot Put: Cyelan Whitley, 4th place

  • Discus: Case Dierschke, 4th place

  • 4x100 Relay: Tayshaun Moore, Derrick Williams, Bryson Black, Joshua Jackson, 3rd place

  • 4x200 Relay: Prestyn Phillips, Derrick Williams Bryson Black, Joshua Jackson, 6th place with a best time of 1:28.89

  • 3200m Run: Sean Gonzalez, 3rd place; Jayce Love, 4th place; Aric Pinguelo, 5th place. Sean breaks the Clemens school record with a time of 9:38.91

  • 1600m Run: Trenton Bilderback, 5th place; Tim Lawson, 6th place; Jayce Love, 3rd place with a personal record time of 4:24.89

  • 800m Run: Matthew Beatty, 7th place with a time of 1:59.37

  • 110m Hurdles: Clark Mills, 6th place in a time of 15.56

Girls

  • High Jump: Jazaelle Howard, 5th place clearing 5’2”

  • Pole Vault: Addison Lacy, 4th place clearing 9’6”

  • 4x100 Relay: Janae Howell, A’yanna Bremby, Ataya Rhoden, Jazelle Howard, 5th place

  • 200m Run: Jazelle Howard, 5th place
