Hi! My name is Lauren Snowberger and I am the Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator for Green Valley Elementary. CIS is a local, non-profit organization, which is part of a nation-wide "stay-in-school" network. CIS empowers K-12 students for success in school and life. As the only campus-based nonprofit in our partner districts (New Braunfels ISD, Marion ISD, Comal ISD, Luling ISD, Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD, Kenedy ISD, Navarro ISD, and Seguin ISD), we serve over 42,000 students across 60 schools.

CIS connects students and families to community resources, addressing health, behavioral, and family challenges. Our proven model has positively impacted thousands of students and alumni for over 30 years. Referrals to CIS can be initiated by students, parents, counselor, administration, or teachers/staff. If you have any questions or need to make a referral, please contact me at Lsnowberger@scucisd.org.

For students, CIS can provide:

  • Social Emotional Groups (coping skills, social skills, character development, friendships, self regulation, self-esteem, etc.)

  • Individual Behavior and Mental Health Support

  • Attendance Monitoring and Assistance (incentives, check-ins, etc.)

  • Basic Needs Assistance (daily snacks, school supplies, clothing, food backpacks, etc.)

For parents, CIS can provide:

  • Assist parents with referrals to community agencies for counseling, clothing, food, employment information, healthcare services, holiday assistance, and financial assistance
