Meet Our Teachers

Choir

Mrs. Olivier

Hello! I am very happy to be here at Corbett working with our wonderful singers! I grew up in San Antonio and have been singing in choirs since I was in pre-school. I earned a Bachelors in Music from The University of Texas San Antonio. I am going into my eleventh year of teaching. I spent the first eight years of my career in San Antonio ISD and am starting my third year here at Corbett. Outside of school, I sing in Alegria, a women’s choir for the San Antonio area, and I enjoy spending time with my husband, my three-year-old daughter, and our dogs!

Orchestra

Mrs. Tudyk

I teach orchestra at Corbett Junior High and Clemens High School.  I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education.  My principal instrument is violin and this is my 17th year teaching and I thoroughly enjoy teaching music each day and seeing the students grow in their musicianship.

Art

Ms. Gonzalez

I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Printmaking from UTSA, and I have a deep passion for drawing, painting and sign/mural work. Teaching these artistic skills to others brings me immense joy.

My teaching career began in Laredo, Texas, where I spent seven years teaching middle school. I then transitioned to high school, where I taught Art 1 for eight years. My family and I relocated to San Antonio in 2022, where I had the opportunity to teach at a charter school. This was my first experience with elementary students and proved to be quite a learning experience. I am now thrilled to be back at the secondary level of education!

Over my 17 years in education, I have actively participated in events such as the L.I.F.E. Art Show and V.A.S.E., where my students have achieved notable success. In my classroom, the focus is not on entering with existing talent but on leaving with newly acquired skills. I am dedicated to fostering growth in every student each school year and find great joy in seeing them develop their skills or discover new ones.

Theater

Mr. Holley

I am a proud graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, where I earned a BFA in acting, graduating magna cum laude. My passion for theatre started when I was six years old where I was cast in, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, at the Pasadena Little Theatre, in the Houston area. I have acted in over 50 plays and directed another 20. I have been teaching for 8 years, and I am excited to bring my experience and joy of theatre to the classroom every day.

Band

Corey D. Barker

Director

Mr. Barker - Band Director

Graduated in 2013 from Texas State University at San Marcos with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Education. Corey was raised in Schertz, and attended Schertz Elementary, Laura Ingalls Wilder Intermediate, Ray D. Corbett Junior High, and Samuel Clemens High School. Corey has played trumpet since fifth grade and has continued to play since then. While attending Texas State, he studied under trumpet professor and Austin Symphony member Jack Laumer. Corey has been a member and participated in the Texas State Bobcat Marching Band, Jazz Ensembles, The Wind Symphony, The Symphonic Winds concert ensemble, and Men’s Choir. He has also been an active member in Kappa Kappa Psi; a national honorary band fraternity committed to helping college band programs succeed.  Music has had a crucial impact on Corey’s life. Both of Corey’s parents excelled in music; his mother was a pianist and wedding singer and his father played guitar. His aspiration to become a teacher came from his great parents, who put taking care of others above all else. Stemming from his familial love of music, Corey always knew his dream job awaited him in a band hall.
Corey has been teaching the Corbett Mustang band for 10 years. He could not be happier to have started his career into such a successful program! Corey’s bands have received multiple sweepstakes and superior ratings at contests such as UIL and Honor Band. Teaching in SCUCISD, where he was raised, is an amazing opportunity. Corey is looking forward to another successful year at Corbett Junior High. He cannot wait to share his love for music, and have a positive impact on the young musicians of this wonderful community.

Band

Gavin Kohlenberg

Assistant Director

Gavin Kohlenberg - Assistant Director

Gavin is very excited about continuing his career with the Mustang Band. He was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, where he went to Harris Middle School and graduated from James Madison High School in 2017. After high school he went to Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelors degree in Music Education. While attending Texas Tech, he studied saxophone with David Dees and participated in music camps and competitions across the country. During his time at Tech he was a member of the Goin' Band from Raiderland and the Alpha Omicron Chapter of the National Band Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. Gavin has also performed with groups such as the United States Air Force Band of the West and is an active member of the San Antonio Wind Symphony.

Gavin enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two dogs as well as playing golf and disc golf. His passion for music is something that he loves sharing and there is no better place he could imagine himself other than Corbett Junior High. Go Mustangs!

Orchestra

Mr. Zukerman

I completed my degrees in music education and instrumental performance at Texas Lutheran University in 2023. Previously, I taught at Westfield High School as an assistant band director. I am very excited to be teaching orchestra at Corbett JH for the 24-25 school year!

Art

Mrs. Patel

Hello everyone! I am an 8-year teaching veteran with a passion for adventure, fashion, and greenery (when the weather permits). When I am not enlightening young minds, you can find me globe-trotting to experience new cultures, flexing my creative muscles with my BFA in Fashion Merchandising Marketing, or burying my nose in books to finish my MS in UX Design. Oh, and if you catch me in the garden, do not mind my tomato-stained hands—it's a hobby that's really growing on me!

Art

Ms. Schwab

I am a proud graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, where I earned a BFA in Studio Art with a minor in Art Education (EC-12), graduating magna cum laude. My passion for sculpture was the focus of my thesis project. Growing up on a farm in New Braunfels, Texas, raising geese and sheep, I developed a deep appreciation for both art and nature, along with a strong work ethic from an early age. My involvement with the FFA from 4th to 12th grade and my experience playing the clarinet in concert and marching bands throughout middle and high school further shaped my creative and disciplined approach. I’m excited to bring my background and enthusiasm to the classroom, sharing my love for art, creativity, and a strong work ethic with my students.

Theater Arts

Ms. Morales

Julia A. Morales is a split campus teacher at Ray D. Corbett Jr High School and the Technical Director at Samuel Clemens High School. Her mission is to make students feel seen and heard. She is her happiest when she sees a student have an "Aha" moment when she's teaching and loves being able to teach the next generation to express themselves.
